All Saints Parish, Berlin, Christmas musical

On December 10, 2014
Kevin Wondrash, Catholic Herald Staff

BERLIN — For the second year in a row, everyone is welcome to attend the All Saints Parish, Berlin, Christmas musical called Twas the Night Before.

It takes place on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 3 p.m. at the Berlin High School Auditorium. All seats are reserved and tickets are $3.50.

All proceeds from the musical will be donated to the Berlin Food Pantry.

The musical will have an overriding message, “God is at work in the ordinary.”

Produced and directed by parishioner

Parishioner Carol Fehring is directing the show produced by Artel Design Studio, owned and operated by Fehring and her husband Bob.

The musical is about the “miraculous story of Christmas,” Fehring said. Her hope is that the performance will “inspire us to open our hearts and discover the extraordinary things that lie within the ordinariness of our lives.”

“Beginning with the unique opening of the curtain, to the candle procession during the finale, the musical will be filled with the beauty and the magic that is Christmas,” she added.

After last year’s production of The Hoity Toity Angel, featuring student performers, there were many requests to do another musical for 2014. This year, the decision was made to include adults in the performance as well.

“Their presence not only adds to our production, but it allows our young people to interact with them,” said Fehring.

Help from everyone

This year’s cast includes students at All Saints School, as well as those from public schools, and those that are homeschooled. All Saints School Principal Steven Zangl has a role, as well as pastor Fr. David Greenfield, who plays the “Voice of God.”

Many “ordinary” parishioners did “extraordinary” things to help with this year’s production.

Some of these include the Bartol Family — husband Tim and his three daughters are performing and wife Jami helped teach choreography.

Parishioners Lori Cumbie, Brad Resop, and Sara Clinch are also cast members and spent Sunday afternoons working with the children cast members.

Carol Wall, Lisa Gustski, Pat Wirtz, and Faye Grover spent hours working on costumes, props, and staging.

“These people are the extra in the word extraordinary,” said Ferhing.
