Bishop Morlino to visit St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo

On August 7, 2014
Chris Lee

BARABOO — St. Clare of Assisi, the patron saint after whom St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo was named, has been described in history as “full of light” or “radiant.”

Her guiding light continues to be a beacon that illuminates the exceptional health care ministry practiced throughout the community as part of the SSM Health Care mission at the St. Clare Hospital campus in Baraboo and its clinic facilities in the Wisconsin Dells/Lake Delton area.

To honor the mission of exceptional health care services that reveal the healing presence of God, Bishop Robert C. Morlino will join with the staff to celebrate and bless St. Clare Hospital on Monday, Aug. 11, at 3 p.m.

The blessing will start promptly at 3 p.m. at the hospital’s emergency department entrance, 707 14th St., where the cornerstone that was placed in the building over 50 years ago stands testament to the very beginnings of St. Clare Hospital, or St. Clare’s Hospital, as it was then known.

After a short ceremony, Bishop Morlino will lead a processional to the hospital’s pocket garden, which features a new, life-size statue of the hospital’s patron saint, St. Clare of Assisi. The statue of St. Clare was donated by the St. Clare Hospital Auxiliary.

Immediately following the dedication, SSM Health Care leaders along with the St. Clare Hospital administrative council will host a reception for Bishop Morlino and invites the community to meet him and enjoy light refreshments. The reception will be located in the Ringling Room on the lower level of St. Clare Hospital.
