Camp Gray Benefit Dinner set for April 26

On April 11, 2019August 23, 2023
David Earleywine, For the Catholic Herald

REEDSBURG — Of the 197 dioceses in the United States, only a small portion of them can claim that they serve the youth of the Church through the unique ministry of outdoor Catholic camping.

Children who come to Camp Gray have the opportunity to experience the Catholic faith free from the distractions of everyday life in the beauty of God’s creation. We here at Camp Gray, are thrilled to serve the youth of Diocese of Madison and we want you to share in this great mission as well.

That’s why we would like to invite you to partake in our 10th annual Benefit Dinner on Friday, April 26, at Camp Gray. This year we will be hosting the event in The Ark, Camp’s new award-winning gymnasium.

Encounter the faith at camp

The Camp Gray Benefit Dinner was created 10 years ago to further the mission of Camp Gray. The mission statement of Camp Gray “invites people of all ages to encounter Jesus Christ in all creation, experience a fun and vibrant Catholic community, and be challenged to ever more deeply, know, love, and serve God and neighbor.”

This year’s Benefit Dinner, we plan to build on the theme of “encounter.” Your support will help to foster an encounter with Jesus Christ for 1,300 kids every summer and over 3,500 kids every school year. Even if you are unable to attend, your donations and support will help further Camp Gray’s mission to change the world, one camper at a time.

Over the years, Camp Gray has used the funds raised at the Benefit Dinner to provide camper scholarships, advance camp’s mission, and assist our Strength for the Journey capital campaign.

The Strength for the Journey campaign has borne fruit in the form of the St. John Paul II Dining Hall and this year’s Benefit Dinner location, the award-winning Ark Gymnasium. The Ark, won a state and national Project of Distinction Award from the Association of Builders and Contractors. The projects are judged in a rigorous process by a panel of construction experts based on a number of criteria, including safety, quality, owner satisfaction, execution and coordination, budgeting, difficulty, unusual challenges, and overall distinctiveness.

So, come encounter Jesus Christ, advance camp’s mission, and see our award-winning facilities.

How you can help

Join us for a fun evening beginning with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 p.m., and entertainment including a silent auction, s’mores bar, and live music.

The evening is a great opportunity to learn more about the life-changing mission of Camp Gray. Come and get a taste of the joy and fun that the youth of our Church discover during their stay at Camp Gray.

Single tickets for the Benefit Dinner cost $75, but if you bring your friends, tables of eight are only $575. Young professionals under the age of 30 can purchase tickets for $50 (a 33 percent discount). More guests at the Benefit Dinner equals more opportunities for Camp Gray to continue impacting people’s lives for years to come.

Lastly, we would like to acknowledge our generous sponsors for the evening. Our Premier Sponsor is Holtz Builders, Inc., who constructed the award-winning Ark gymnasium. Our Presenting Sponsor is the Diocese of Madison, that continues to support Camp Gray in so many ways. Thank you for your support and the generous support of all of our Event and Auction sponsors who help make the event possible.

Register for the Benefit Dinner or donate to Camp Gray at www.camp gray.com/benefitdinner or call 608-356-8200.

David Earleywine is assistant director of Camp Gray.
