Corpus Christi Mass and procession to be held June 22 at Durward’s Glen

On May 29, 2014
Kevin Wondrash

BARABOO — The 101st annual Corpus Christi Mass and procession at Durward’s Glen will take place on Sunday, June 22, at 11:30 a.m.

The Mass will be celebrated at the outdoor Holy Family Altar by Fr. Pedro Escribano.

The Eucharistic procession will commence from the hilltop and include Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, flower girls, candles, incense, local musicians, flags, the crucifix, and the Blessed Sacrament carried under the decorative canopy.

The first stop of the procession after Mass will be at the grotto of Mary, Mother of God. It was built using stones from the burned St. Raphael Cathedral in Madison and was dedicated on August 15, 2009.

From there, the procession will wind its way to St. Anthony’s altar and decorative flower garden. It will continue through a beautiful path, passing the Durward Spring Fountain and over the crown bridge to the Guardian of the Glen statue and altar, and will conclude with a benediction in the Immaculate Conception indoor chapel.

The Knights of Columbus will serve a picnic-style meal of brats, hot dogs, potato salad, beverages, and more.

Durward’s Glen is in need of helpers. In particular, people are needed to carry banners, flags, and the canopy and help with the meal and leading tours.

This is a day filled with tradition and fellowship with friends and neighbors. Tours are available. Durward’s Glen is located in the Baraboo Bluffs at W11876 McLeisch Rd., Baraboo.

If you are interested in helping, contact Janet Atkinson at 608-298-3216 or 608-742-2700.
