MADISON — “All Hope Abandon, Ye Who Enter Here” is the title of a St. Ambrose Faculty Lecture to be given by Abby Nowakowski.
The Divine Comedy follows the poet-as-pilgrim, Dante Alighieri, through a salvific journey through hell, purgatory, and paradise. Written from 1308 to 1321 in northern Italy, the epic has influenced art, cultures, and faith the world over for the past seven centuries.
In this lecture, St. Ambrose Academy history, English, and Latin teacher Abby Nowakowski will discuss the history and doctrine Dante himself drew from, and how his composition in turn inspired and instructed countless others in creative expression and comprehension of the spiritual.This installment of the St. Ambrose Academy Faculty Lecture series is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
The lecture will be presented on Monday, Jan. 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Church, 404 E. Main St., Madison.
