Gala for the Glen set for June 18

On April 28, 2016
Kevin Wondrash

BARABOO — Durward’s Glen Retreat and Educational Center will hold its 2016 Gala for the Glen on Saturday, June 18, at St. Joseph School in Baraboo. Dinner tickets are $50 each.

The Gala for the Glen is one of the major fundraisers for Durward’s Glen. The Friends Group that purchased the property in 2011 to preserve these 37+ acres of natural and historic beauty, has been working steadily to make improvements to the grounds and expand the programs offered for Catholic faith development and renewal, cultural arts, and environmental stewardship.

These three areas are the things that the Durward Family held dear. During the Gala, guests will learn more about the group’s progress and their continued plans for the future.

Ties to St. Joseph Parish

Holding the event at St. Joseph Parish has special significance for the folks at Durward’s Glen.

Fr. John Durward, one of the sons of Bernard Durward, for whom Durward’s Glen is named, designed and built St. Joseph Church while he was the pastor there.

Two of Bernard Durward’s sons became Catholic priests.

Gala for the Glen

The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a social with musical entertainment followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner.

Raffle tickets are on sale prior to the event for a chance to win a week-long condo stay in Carolina Beach, N.C.; a weekend stay in Durward’s Glen Artist Cottage; a gift from Sophie’s Jewelry and Fine Gifts in Baraboo; a Sports Basket of items from Wisconsin’s sports teams; a Prayer Journal gift basket; a Robert Guzman watercolor painting; a Char Olson watercolor print; and a Link bracelet.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from the Glen. The drawing will be held at 8:30 p.m. at the Gala.

A Bucket Raffle will be held the night of the event for various prizes from local merchants and artists. Tickets will be on sale at the event.

Tickets can be purchased through Durward’s Glen volunteers or at St. Joseph Parish office in Baraboo. Registration information is also available on the Durward’s Glen website (www.durwardsglen.org), call 608-356-8113, or email [email protected]

Donations to Durward’s Glen can be sent to: Durward’s Glen OLRG, Ltd, W11876 McLeisch Rd., Baraboo, WI 53913.
