JANESVILLE — Betty and Frank Daniels of Janesville will celebrate 75 years of marriage in a private gathering at their home on Saturday, Nov. 20.

Entering the faith

Betty Ruth Fisher and Frank Hamilton Daniels were married on November 27, 1946, at Cargill Methodist Church in Janesville.

Betty and Frank converted to Catholicism in 1950 and entered the Church following instruction and guidance of Father Brill at St. Mary Parish in Milton.

They remain active members of St. Mary to this day.

Their enduring faith in Catholicism has shaped their lives and has been an inner compass in their private and public lives ever since.

Family life

Betty and Frank have 12 children: Frank (Ceri) of Lincoln, Neb.; Robert (Lynn) of Monroe; Mary (Allen) Zimmerman of Beloit; Cecelia (Randy) Vanderlip of Janesville; David (Debbie) of Milford, Ohio; Kathryn (Farron) Kolb of Escondido, Calif.; John of Gelnhausen, Germany; Ruth (Matt) Gregerson of Troy, Mo.; Patricia of Janesville; and Janet Marie (Chris) Berg of San Diego, Calif.

Two children are deceased — Suzanne (Scott) Shadel in 2004 and Thomas in 2012.

Betty and Frank are also the proud grandparents of 24 grandchildren, have 49 great-grandchildren, and have three great-great-grandchildren.

Now aged 93 years, Betty and Frank are no longer as mobile and actively involved in community activities as they once were, but continue to participate in the lives of those closest to them to the greatest extent possible.

Frank was for many years a music teacher in public schools, church choir director, and musician. He also sold real estate and life insurance.

Betty dedicated much of her life to raising her 12 children. As the children grew and left home, she worked as an administrative assistant to Frank in the insurance field and became a realtor herself.

For decades, Betty and Frank played a crucial leading role in advocating human rights and services for the handicapped in Wisconsin and at the national level.

Today, the couple lives quietly in Janesville and enjoys the company of family, friends, and neighbors.
