MADISON — Msgr. Michael E. Hippee is retiring as judicial vicar for the Diocese of Madison Tribunal, a position he has held since 1978. Susan Stack is also retiring from the Tribunal after serving as its administrative assistant, notary, and assessor for almost 17 years.

At a December 13 reception for the two long-time Tribunal staff members held at the Bishop O’Connor Center, Bishop Robert C. Morlino said, “Today is a day when our attention is focused on the long service Monsignor Hippee has given to the diocese. He has given very faithful service to three bishops, including Bishop (Cletus F.) O’Donnell, Bishop (William H.) Bullock, and myself. We thank him in a simple way with deeply grateful hearts.”

Bishop Morlino also thanked Susan Stack for her service. “We know day by day how the engine keeps running. Her contribution has been priceless and faithful. We’ve managed and managed well, and that’s a great tribute to Monsignor and Sue,” said the bishop.

The bishop gave each of them a Lladro representation of the Nativity. “Please think of us and be assured of our prayers in the future,” said the bishop.

Monsignor Hippee earned his J.C.L. degree in canon law from the Catholic University of America in 1978. He was secretary to Bishop O’Donnell from 1974 to 1992 and has served on various diocesan boards, including the Arbitration & Conciliation Board, the Presbyteral Council, and the Diocesan Building Commission. He continues as pastor of St. Bernard Parish in Madison, where he has served since 1993.

Stack is a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Parish in Oregon. She is married to Deacon Bill Stack. They have four children and four grandchildren.

Information on new Tribunal positions will be announced in the future.
