MILWAUKEE –– School Sister of St. Francis Rita Freund died March 26, 2011 at Lutheran Home Hospice in Milwaukee, Wis. The daughter of Martin and Martha Freund, she was born March 20, 1930, in Jericho, Wis. She was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis June 13, 1948 and made first profession of vows June 21, 1950 and final (perpetual) vows June 21, 1956.
Sister Rita is survived by her sister Doris Neuber, sister-in-law Marge Freund, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, other relatives, and the School Sisters of St. Francis.
Sister Rita lived her religious ministry in Wisconsin. In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Rita served as a teacher at SS. Anthony and Philip School in Highland (1950-1964) and served as principal and teacher at St. Clement School in Lancaster (1965-1966).
A wake and Funeral Mass took place on March 30, 2011, at St. Joseph Chapel in Milwaukee, Wis. Interment followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wis.
