An essential part of a Jubilee celebration is a pilgrimage.
For the 2025 Jubilee, the Holy Father has asked all bishops around the world to designate sites in their dioceses as pilgrimage destinations, where the faithful may gain the Jubilee indulgence.
Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison has designated six locations in the Diocese of Madison as pilgrimage destinations.
As mentioned in the Catholic Herald’s Jubilee sites article (where you can read more information about the sites), the sites are:
- Immaculate Heart of Mary Church/Shrine of the Green Scapular: 5101 Schofield St., Monona
- St. Cecilia Church: 603 Oak St., Wisconsin Dells
- St. Bernard Church: 114 S. Church St., Watertown
- Nativity of Mary Church: 313 E. Wall St., Janesville
- St. Mary Church: 930 Jefferson St., Fennimore
- Schoenstatt Shrine: 5901 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison
The faithful may obtain the Jubilee indulgence with a visit to any of these sites.
You can read more about indulgences in the Catholic Herald’s Jubilee indulgence article.
You can make either a pilgrimage or a pious visit to any of the sites in the diocese.
A pilgrimage involves going to Mass, praying the Divine Office, praying the Rosary, or some other related work.
A pious visit includes prayer such as Eucharistic Adoration.
Pilgrimage sites are open from 8 a.m. to 12 noon every Saturday.
If you wish to visit at a different time, go to madisondiocese.org/jubilee for links to each location’s schedule.
Pilgrims who visit all six sites can receive a Jubilee certificate signed by Bishop Hying.
To get your certificate, send a photo of your passport with all six stamps plus your name and address to:
