Pregnancy Helpline names new executive director

On May 10, 2018
Pregnancy Helpline, Inc. of Madison, For the Catholic Herald

MADISON — At the annual Comedy Night Benefit this spring, the Pregnancy Helpline made an exciting announcement. They introduced their new Executive Director, Stephanie Ehle, to their crowd of supporters.

Stephanie Ehle, MS, CWP and owner of a local wellness company, steps into this new role as the previous director, Alissa Hirscher, hands over the reins after nearly six years of service.

New executive director

Ehle is excited to take on the challenge of leading the Helpline through its next chapter. She has a background in health and wellness, and is a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Monona, in addition to being a mom of two young children. She has worked for a large healthcare company, as well as started her own business. “Helping young mothers and families get and stay healthy is a passion of mine,” she said. “When I learned about the work of the Pregnancy Helpline, I knew this would be a good fit for me. I’m grateful for this opportunity to serve this organization and the local community.”

Former director still involved

Hirscher said this was the right time to step back as director. “I’ve loved my time at the Helpline. It’s been such a pleasure to work alongside staff and volunteers to make an impact. The Helpline needed someone who could guide the organization as it continues to experience amazing growth.”

Hirscher has returned to her career as an occupational therapist but remains on the Board of Directors. “I wasn’t ready to step back totally. I want to support the Helpline and stay involved.”

Looking to the future

As Pregnancy Helpline looks to the future, Ehle shares some early goals: “We continue to see record numbers at our Sharing Center and have outgrown our space!”

In addition to space needs, the Helpline is also looking to add parent and child education and engagement sessions, continue to train volunteers to support its growing programs, and like all non-profits, network with local groups and grow funding and relationships to keep up with growth.

“I’m really excited to have Stephanie as the new executive director. She’s a great person and thoughtful leader. She’s been involved for a few months and is already doing a great job,” said Hirscher.

Hirscher was thanked with a surprise gesture at the Helpline’s annual Comedy Night. Board President Bridget Yallaly presented her with flowers and a gift campaign that raised $5,000 for the Helpline to honor Hirscher’s years of service.

Yallaly announced, “We have been so blessed by Alissa’s leadership these past few years. In all of our programs, the growth we have seen is a direct result of her initiative, management, and skill.”
