MADISON — Fifth grade is a great year!

We are able to play team sports through our school with the Madison Area Independent Sports League (MAISL), and many of us decided to play volleyball this fall.

It’s fun, it’s active, and it helps us learn about teamwork.

What we learned

We learned how to bump, set, and serve, but we also learned how to work with other people, encourage each other, and make lifelong friendships.

Our team welcomed three students from Blessed Sacrament School and now we have made friends from other schools as well as becoming closer to everyone.

It’s also fun to play against other schools!

Sometimes we know the other girls from camps and other activities and it’s fun to cheer for everyone.

Important to play sports

It is important for kids to play sports because each person, young or old, needs to get at least 60 minutes of activity per day to be healthy.

Also, being part of a team can teach kids life skills such as how to be active and how to be encouraging and positive to others.

Teams will always be a part of our lives, whether it’s volleyball or when we get jobs.

Volleyball is a sport where you talk, stay positive, and all work together while having fun.

We even think that our good hearts and cheerfulness have made us a better team.

Volleyball has taught us that there is no limit to what we can do.

Teammates and coaches help us through all the easy and hard parts of the game, and what keeps us going is wanting to keep improving, learning new skills, and accomplishing our goals.

This volleyball season has been amazing, and we wish it wasn’t over!

We will keep learning and practicing and can’t wait for next season!
