MADISON — Third to eighth graders at Our Lady Queen of Peace School have been busy creating art in hopes of raising money to help the Australian community recover from the devastating bushfires.

For the past few months students have been painting, drawing, sketching, coloring, and creating art pieces that they will auction off in an online auction. Each class chose their favorite pieces to give to the auction.

Beginning March 15 and running through March 25, all are welcome to visit the auction website, https://QPArtAuction.givesmart.com and browse the works of art.

Each piece will come with a description of the artwork written by the artist. If a piece catches your eye, you can place a bid. Each piece will begin at $20 and bidding will go up in increments of $10. If you would simply like to help the students out with their cause, there is also a “Donate Now” button which will allow you to donate any amount you would like.

Although the students are proud of their creations, they say they are even more proud that they are helping the people and animals of Australia in their time of need. The students would like to reach their goal of $2,000. All money raised will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Foundation, which is a great resource for the Australian community.

For more information, or if you would like to donate, contact Molly Sweeney, art teacher at Our Lady Queen of Peace School, at 608-231-4580 or [email protected]
