Fr. Rupert Dorn dies

Fr. Rupert Dorn

MT. CALVARY — Fr. Rupert Dorn, OFM, Cap., 90, a native of Waunakee, died September 25, 2014.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Seminary Chapel, 301 Church St., Mt. Calvary.

Burial was at the Capuchin Friar Cemetery, Mt. Calvary.

Father Dorn was born in Waunakee in 1924; graduated from St. Lawrence Seminary, Mt. Calvary; and joined the Capuchin order in 1944. He was ordained a priest on September 5, 1951.

His ministries have included serving as a teacher, parish pastor, local minister of a Capuchin community, and provincial minister. He served as pastor of Holy Cross Parish in Mt. Calvary for 11 years.

After his retirement, Father Dorn assisted with daily and weekend Masses for several parishes in the Diocese of Madison.

Father Dorn is survived by his siblings Betty Ripp, Waunakee; Raymond Dorn, Portage; and Henry Dorn, Waunakee; many nieces and nephews; and the friars of the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph, with whom he lived, prayed, and ministered. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes.
