Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration begins January 1 in Sauk City

On December 24, 2014
Sue Barry, For the Catholic Herald

SAUK CITY — “Spending time before the Blessed Sacrament is the gift we can give to God this Christmas,” according to Fr. John Blewett, pastor of Divine Mercy Parish in Sauk City.

The parish has been working since May to expand its current, two-day a week Eucharistic Adoration Program held at St. Aloysius Church to a Perpetual Adoration program slated to begin January 1.

Bishop Robert C. Morlino is scheduled to dedicate the new chapel, called the “Mary, Mother of God Chapel,” fittingly on the feast of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, January 1.

“Come, Let Us Adore Him” is not only a beautiful Christmas hymn, but it is the invitation members of the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Committee at St. Aloysius is extending to all parishioners — as well as to anyone in neighboring parishes — who wants to deepen their relationship with Jesus by spending an hour before the Blessed Sacrament each week.

The committee has been working diligently since October to fill the 168 hour slots with adorers required to make up the weekly Perpetual Adoration schedules, but there are still many spots to fill.

The “Mary, Mother of God Chapel” at St. Aloysius Church will be the third Perpetual Adoration site in the Diocese of Madison. The other two sites are at St. Mary Church in Fennimore and Holy Redeemer Church in downtown Madison.

To find out more about the new chapel or to sign up for an hour any time during the week, call the parish office at 608-643-2449 or call Bill Liegel at 608-643-8674.

What a beautiful gift your hour could be for the Lord this Christmas and/or as a truly meaningful New Year’s resolution for your spiritual growth.
