MADISON — More than 2,000 people stood in line to venerate a relic of St. Jude the Apostle at St. Maria Goretti Church in Madison.

The relic was in the church on September 14.

Known as the “Apostle of the Impossible,” the relic of St. Jude is touring a part of the United States this year through Treasures of the Church, a ministry of evangelization directed by Fr. Carlos Martins.

The Office of Hispanic Ministry for the Diocese of Madison hosted the visit.

Bishop Donald J. Hying celebrated a Bilingual Mass attended by more than 700 people. About a dozen priests from the Diocese of Madison concelebrated Mass and also heard Confessions.

More than 40 volunteers made up of diocesan staff, St. Maria Goretti parishioners, and members of the Hispanic community assisted with the event. Knights of Columbus helped with guarding the relic.
