More people should sign petition to abolish mandate

To the editor:

Thank you God that we still have people here on earth who have a conscience and won’t sign this form (reference to Little Sisters of the Poor article on their refusal to sign the Health and Human Services’ Contraception Mandate, February 4 Catholic Herald).

Why have Catholics not signed a petition to abolish this mandate? Why is this the first I have heard of this? Why is it kept from us to see?

Requiem Mass for the unborn

PINE BLUFF — There will be a Requiem Mass for the unborn celebrated on Sunday, Jan. 24, at 6 p.m. at St. Mary of Pine Bluff Church, 3673 County Road P, Cross Plains.

This Mass will be celebrated in memory of all who have died from abortion in the Diocese of Madison in the past year.

Civil Rights and Pro-Life Movements linked

It may not be a coincidence that two significant dates in history occurred in our country within a few days of each other in January, albeit in different years.

Knife control vs. gun control legislation

To the editor:

As I watched the president wipe away a tear in announcing his new gun legislation, I wondered, “Is this  the same man who proclaimed, ‘God bless Planned Parenthood’”?

Though President Obama’s compassion for the victims of Sandy Hook is commendable, what a tremendous disconnect to his callous support of an organization that kills, mutilates, and profits from the dirty business of abortion.

Penalties for harming animals, but not people

To the editor:

One of our most precious gifts is the gift of love, which we give to people and animals. We want all to enjoy life on earth.

We can go to jail or pay a fine for torturing and killing animals, even before they are born or hatched, like an eagle egg.

Saving lives — one baby at a time

Pro-life individuals and organizations are working to change laws and public opinion, and they are making a difference in our state and across our nation.

Wisconsin experienced over a 10 percent decline in abortions in 2014, continuing a trend of fewer abortions during the past five years.

One way this has happened is that lives are being saved — one baby at a time — thanks to the commitment of pro-life pregnancy centers and volunteers.

Let’s renew our commitment to defend all human life

Pablo Casals, the great cellist and conductor, gazed at a baby and exclaimed, “You are unique. In the millions of years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. And look at your body; what a wonder it is! Your exquisite legs, your arms, your cunning little fingers. You may become another Shakespeare, Michelangelo, or Beethoven.”

St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, whose feast we celebrated on October 1, believed that people of her time feared God too much. She couldn’t understand how anyone could fear God, who came to us as a tiny helpless baby.

And yet, today there seem to be some who fear babies more than God.

Wisconsin KC’s support bishops in taking action against sale, use of fetal body parts

Ronald Faust

In support of the bishops of Wisconsin: As Knights of Columbus we cannot be part of what Pope Francis has called the “complicit silence” of many who hear of atrocities and do nothing. We must act.

I invite you to consider that those same words apply completely and directly to the brutalization of women and children by Planned Parenthood. The intentional, vicious murder of innocents in the womb is an atrocity. That it is followed by the callous selling of their body parts should shock our culture into action.
