MADISON — Ann Walsh was selected as the Irish Person of the Year by the Dane County Shamrock Club. She will be honored at the club’s Irish flag ceremony in the Capitol rotunda, 2 E. Main St., at 12 noon on Sunday, March 15; at the St. Patrick’s Day parade following the flag ceremony; and again at the club’s St. Patrick’s Day dinner on March 22. These events are open to the public.

Catholic women hold fall gatherings
Meetings of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) are scheduled in Columbia North, Grant, and West Dane Vicariates this month.
These half-day meetings provide women an opportunity for prayer, service, and learning together. Women are invited to attend with others from their parish. If their parish isn’t affiliated with the CCW, women may join individually. Membership information is on the Madison Diocesan CCW web site at mdccw.com

MADISON — Students at Blessed Sacrament School in Madison recently raised more than $8,500 for the hungry in Dane County by walking or running in the school’s annual Hunger March — a tradition more than three decades old.

MADISON — The Wisconsin NAACP Conference of Branches and the NAACP of Dane County invite the public to attend a moderated Candidates’ Forum.
Candidates invited include those for governor of Wisconsin, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, state treasurer, Wisconsin Senate District 13, and Wisconsin Assembly Districts 37, 79, and 81.
Meetings offer women learning and service opportunities
MADISON — Women of the Diocese of Madison are invited to fall vicariate meetings scheduled at parishes in Spring Green, Jefferson, Berlin, Bloomington, and Pine Bluff.
Rosa Roper, president of the Madison Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (MDCCW), encourages women to take advantage of these meetings to connect with other Catholic women in their area.
The half-day meetings offer prayer, socializing, and service and fit into her theme as president: “Live, Learn, Love, and Share Our Catholic Faith.”

BARABOO — Join Catholic women from the diocese to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Madison Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (MDCCW) and “Find Grace through Faith, Trust, & Patience” at the annual MDCCW convention.
The Sauk Vicariate will host this event, beginning the afternoon of Tuesday, May 20, and continuing the next day at the Clarion Hotel & Convention Center, 626 Hwy. 12, Baraboo.

DANE — Blessed Trinity Catholic School (formally known as St. Michael Catholic School) will host a gala in memory of Roseanne Mills on Sunday, May 3, beginning at 6 p.m.
The first annual gala will feature an evening of music, fine dining, and a live auction and a memorial tribute to Roseanne.
Blessed Trinity School in Dane celebrates Catholic Schools Week
January 26 to February 1 was Catholic Schools Week around the nation and in the Diocese of Madison. The students and staff at Blessed Trinity School in Dane used that as an opportunity to take a break from the challenging winter and normal classroom activities.
