Catholic women hold fall gatherings

On October 9, 2014
Kevin Wondrash

Meetings of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) are scheduled in Columbia North, Grant, and West Dane Vicariates this month.

These half-day meetings provide women an opportunity for prayer, service, and learning together. Women are invited to attend with others from their parish. If their parish isn’t affiliated with the CCW, women may join individually. Membership information is on the Madison Diocesan CCW web site at mdccw.com

Columbia North Vicariate

BERLIN — All Saints Council of Catholic Women (CCW) is hosting the Columbia North Vicariate meeting Tuesday, Oct. 14, at All Saints Church located at N5966 State Hwy. 49.

Registration is at 3:15 p.m. with the business meeting at 4 p.m. and Mass at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and program. The theme is “Here I am Lord! I come to do your will.”

Msgr. Duane Moellenberndt, co-spiritual advisor for the Madison Diocesan CCW and pastor of Sacred Hearts Parish, Sun Prairie, will celebrate Mass with attending priests.

Fr. Dan Viertel, administrator of Prince of Peace Parish, Green Bay, will speak on his journey to becoming a priest.

Cost is $10. Registration is due to Louise Sedarski, 333 Oak St., Berlin, WI 54923 (telephone 920-361-2492). Each parish is asked to bring a $15 raffle gift. Proceeds will go to the seminarian fund.

Grant Vicariate

BLOOMINGTON — The Grant Vicariate Council of Catholic Women (CCW) will meet at St. Mary Church in Bloomington, 535 Congress St., on Thursday, Oct. 16, beginning with registration at 9 a.m. The theme is “Ladies of the Lord.”

Following the 9:30 business meeting, Fr. Larry Bowens, co-spiritual advisor to the Madison Diocesan CCW, Lime Ridge, will celebrate Mass along with attending priests. Collection at Mass will be given to Prolife Across America.

The program following lunch will be a presentation on Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation, The Joy of the Gospel.

Each parish CCW is asked to bring canned foods or paper products for the food pantry and a Christmas-themed item for the raffle.

Registration is $12. Send to Joan Wagner, P.O. Box 223, Bloomington, WI 53804. For more information, contact Bernadette Schaefer at 608-723-7475.

West Dane Vicariate

PINE BLUFF — Rebecca Hoeben, co-director at Camp Gray, will speak at the West Dane Vicariate Council of Catholic Women meeting Wednesday, Oct. 22, at St. Mary Church here.

Focusing on the meeting’s theme of “creating a culture which promotes vocations,” Hoeben will talk about how the ministry of Camp Gray can touch youth very deeply. Seminarian Michael Wanta, whose home parish is here, thought about becoming a priest while attending Camp Gray. Donations and Offertory gifts will go to Camp Gray.

Fr. Larry Bowens, co-spiritual advisor to the MDCCW, will concelebrate Mass with attending priests at 11 a.m., followed by lunch. Weather permitting, the closing prayer will be a Rosary outside on the parish’s Rosary Walk.

Registration is due to Audrey Zander, 8842 Zander Rd., Mount Horeb 53572, or call her at 608-437-3538. Cost is $10.
