2018 Annual Catholic Appeal: ‘We Dare to Hope’

“In daring to hope, we express our faith and love in the Lord, and in daring to hope, we will find ourselves loving and caring for the spiritual needs of those in our diocese and elsewhere.”

Bishop Robert C. Morlino has chosen “We Dare to Hope” as the theme of the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA). …

Trumpet will shine at Lessons and Carols

MADISON — With a trumpet solo as pure and melodic as it is glorious, the Madison Diocesan Choir will herald the birth of Christ in a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, featuring brass quintet and timpani, this Sunday, Dec. 20, at the Bishop O’Connor Catholic Pastoral Center.

Dr. Patrick Gorman, Diocesan Choir director for nearly 25 years, has had harp, strings, and woodwinds accompany the choir with organist Glenn Schuster for the Advent service, a longstanding tradition of the choir.

Madison Diocesan Choir is looking for singers, places to sing

MADISON — The Madison Diocesan Choir currently is seeking new members for all sections of the choir. The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings (7 to 9:30 p.m.) in the chapel of the Bishop O’Connor Center on Madison’s west side. (We especially would like to add tenors and basses.)

You don’t have to be a pro! We‘re looking for people with pleasant voices who are willing to work toward our goal of singing God’s praise with full hearts, minds, and voices.

Diocesan Choir at O’Connor Center for Festival of Lessons and Carols

MADISON — Preserving a long-standing tradition recently in doubt, the Madison Diocesan Choir returns to the Bishop O’Connor Catholic Pastoral Center Sunday, Dec. 21, for a Festival of Lessons and Carols, a joyful celebration featuring wind instruments and reaffirming the choir’s music ministry in service to the diocese.

Months ago, the choir and its director, Dr. Patrick Gorman, were in search of a new home, a daunting challenge. With plans to convert the former seminary into a housing development, the choir required not only a place to store its music, but one large enough for weekly rehearsals. The choir has more than 70 active members from parishes throughout the diocese.
