Mike Elliott, President of Edgewood High School since 2013, has notified the school’s Board of Trustees that he intends to retire from his role as President effective June 30, 2022.
Edgewood teacher aids in developing app to assess school readiness and dyslexia risk
MADISON — “If there ever was a year to say no, this was the year,” said Kim VanBrocklin, a kindergarten teacher at Edgewood Campus School in Madison who spent part of the fall semester of 2020 piloting the new APPRISE app with her students.
But neither VanBrocklin nor Principal Anne Palzkill let the pandemic get in the way of the way of helping researchers to develop a new tool to identify children at risk for developing dyslexia and other reading disabilities before they start struggling in school.
Edgewood College commits to in-person, on-campus classes for Fall 2021
MADISON — Edgewood College has committed to a return to classes on-campus and in-person when the 2021-22 academic year gets underway.
Edgewood College announces new president
MADISON — The Board of Trustees of Edgewood College announced that Dr. Andrew Manion will serve as the ninth president of Edgewood College.
Dr. Manion most recently served as president of Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wis.
He will replace Sr. Mary Ellen Gevelinger, OP, Ed. D, who has served in the role of interim president since September 1, 2019.Edgewood student relief fund
MADISON — Sr. Mary Ellen Gevelinger, interim president of Edgewood College, announced the Presidential Relief Fund on April 8.
“Today, at my request, the Board of Trustees approved a $500,000 student relief fund,” Sister Mary Ellen said.
“This provides immediate cash relief for students. So many service industries that our students rely on for employment are affected. We are fortunate to be able to offer a program that will provide some support for our students to help with basic needs like groceries, rent, and unexpected expenses.”Edgewood Spring Fling canceled
MADISON — As public health, state, and federal authorities have mandated, Edgewood High School has decided that in order to protect its supporters and the entire community, it will not be able to hold the Spring Fling event at Garver Feed Mill, scheduled for Friday, April 24.
In a statement, the school said, “Our prayers are with every member of our Edgewood community in this unprecedented and difficult time. Our blessings to you, your families, our sponsors, donors, and our entire Edgewood Community.

Because of COVID-19, Edgewood College informed students, faculty, and staff by email on March 11 that it was suspending face-to-face classes effective Monday, March 23.
Edgewood Chamber Orchestra presents benefit concert for Catholic Charities of Madison
MADISON — The Edgewood Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Blake Walter, presents a special concert to benefit Catholic Charities of Madison.
It will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel at Holy Name Heights, 702 S. High Point Rd., Madison.
There is no admission charge for this concert, but a freewill offering will be taken to support Catholic Charities of Madison.

The concert includes the Donna Diana Overture, by Emil Reznicek; Pavane, Op. 50, by Gabriel Faure; Little Suite by Witold Lutoslawski, and Haydn’s Symphony No. 96, “The Miracle.”Edgewood in the Community

On a recent Wednesday, the entire EHS community — including students, faculty and staff, and parents — put down the books for a day of volunteering during the 20th annual Edgewood in the Community Day.
