Parish hosts program on protecting children from sex trafficking
MADISON — The St. Thomas Aquinas Parish Justice and Peace Committee is sponsoring a program on “Protecting Our Children from Sex Trafficking: What Are the Signs” after the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Jan. 14, in the parish social hall.
The program will begin with the showing of a 20-minute film, Chosen, which demonstrates how easy it is for sex traffickers to lure teenagers in communities into the industry.
St. Joseph Parish and School in Fort Atkinson to host 40 Hours Devotion
FORT ATKINSON — St. Joseph Parish and School will host a 40 Hours Devotion.
This devotion dates back and was developed during the Middle Ages, after the Feast of Corpus Christi was extended to the Universal Church.
Corpus Christi is known for its street processions with the Blessed Sacrament, even in our own time. St. Philip Neri and St. Ignatius adopted the 40 Hours Devotion in reparation for sin, which brought many blessings and conversions.
‘Our Faith Stories’ resumes at St. Ann
STOUGHTON — “Our Faith Stories” is beginning again at St. Ann Parish.
Each month, people enjoy hearing about the faith journey of another, which gives inspiration and hope on their own journeys.
The first date is Sunday, Oct. 1. Rollie Budnar (father of St. Ann Pastor Fr. Randy Budnar) and Rita Ihm will be speaking. Rita’s talk will focus on listening, while Rollie’s theme is “Growing in faith in God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit through the Church.”
St. Jerome School plans annual Gala
COLUMBUS — “Welcome to Paradise” is the theme of the third annual St. Jerome School Gala to be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, in the school gymnasium at 1550 Farnham St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
The evening features a catered Caribbean buffet, open bar (beer, wine, and tropical coolers), and live music by Bahama Bob’s Island Music. Event tickets are $40 each or two for $75. There will also be a raffle (with five travel prizes), sweet deals, silent auctions, and mystery boxes. Gala raffle tickets are $50 each with the grand prize valued at $5,000.Madison Catholic Woman’s Club hosts Benefit Dessert Party and Fashion Show
MADISON — The Madison Catholic Woman’s Club will host its annual Benefit Dessert Party and Fashion Show by Talbot’s with the theme, “Autumn’s Palette,” on Monday, Sept. 11. This is the club’s major fundraiser with proceeds going to charitable projects.
All women of the diocese and their guests are invited to join the club for dessert, fashions, raffle, and prizes at St. Peter Catholic Church Social Center, 5001 Sherman Ave., Madison. Doors open at 11 a.m. for raffle and seating; dessert will be served at 11:30.
Annual outdoor Mass at St. James, Vermont
VERMONT — The annual outdoor Mass at St. James, Vermont, will be held on Sunday, Aug. 6, at 12 noon with Fr. Steve Petrica as celebrant.
A potluck dinner will follow at the Blue Mounds View Park in the village of Blue Mounds.
