Madison Catholic Woman’s Club to celebrate Religious and hold donation drive

MADISON — All women of the diocese are warmly invited to join Madison Catholic Woman’s Club (MCWC) members as we celebrate our parish priests, Religious, and staff on Tuesday, March 9, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2116 Hollister Ave., Madison.

Mark your calendars to join us in person at 11:10 a.m. to pray the Rosary followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m. with Bishop Donald J. Hying of Madison presiding.

For those wishing to participate virtually, the event will be livestreamed on the Blessed Sacrament YouTube channel.

Damian Lenshek joins diocesan staff

MADISON — Damian X. Lenshek joined the Diocese of Madison as Manager of Special Projects. In that capacity, he will assist with initiatives in operations, communications, planning, development, and technology.

He comes to the diocese with over 12 years of experience in organizational management, process improvement, and fundraising initiatives for Catholic nonprofit organizations.

Special collection to be taken for flood victims

MADISON — The Diocese of Madison will join in a special collection for flood victims in Louisiana to be taken in parishes on the weekend of September 18.

The president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville, Ky., called on Catholic parishes across the U.S. to take a second collection on or around September 18. He encouraged U. S. Catholics “to respond generously. Our prayer and material support is urgently needed to help rebuild lives.”

Queen of Peace Parish to hold special needs celebration

MADISON — Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, 401 S. Owen Dr., will host a panel discussion and entitled “All Together Now! Celebrating and supporting those with special needs” on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m.

Vicky Franchino, parishioner at Queen of Peace, said, “Please join us for an evening of fellowship and conversation as we come together to learn and connect during National Disabilities Awareness Month. Our evening will begin with brief presentations, followed by an audience Q&A. All are welcome!”

Keeping a family tradition alive with help

Q. I am getting ready for my annual trip out east to spend time with my mother over the holidays.

Mom is in her 80s and it is getting more and more difficult for her to do everything — yet she insists on keeping up all of the old traditions and will not allow any of us to help.

By the time I leave she is exhausted and I am stressed and feeling guilty. Is there any way to convince her all the “fuss” is not necessary, without hurting her feelings?
