Bishop's Letter -- Bishop Robert C. Morlino

December 30, 2010

Dear Faithful Members of the Apostolate to the Handicapped:

During this Christmas season of gratitude and thanksgiving for the birth of Our Lord, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and indebtedness to both Msgr. Thomas Campion and to you for your faithful volunteer service and financial support for the Apostolate to the Handicapped. During this holiday season we’ve experienced the loss of Msgr. Campion and paid tribute to his significant ministry among the handicapped. May Msgr. Campion rest in the peace of Christ.

Priest Appointments (Dec. 30, 2010 edition)

Please rest assured of my commitment to continue the Apostolate to the Handicapped in Monroe, Wisconsin and also to continue the Apostolate to the Handicapped Television Mass on WISC-TV Channel 3 in Madison. As such, I plan to appoint a new Director of the Apostolate to the Handicapped to be made concurrent with the appointment of a new pastor for Saint Victor Parish, Monroe, and Saint Rose of Lima Parish, Brodhead, in conjunction with the annual summer priestly assignments in 2011 in the Diocese of Madison.

Rev. Michael Klarer will serve as temporary liaison to the Bishop of Madison and the Vicar General on ministerial needs of the Apostolate to the Handicapped prior to the appointment of the new pastor and director in Monroe. The Diocese of Madison is also working with WISC-TV Channel 3 and the Apostolate to the Handicapped for continuation of new weekly programming of the Sunday morning televised Mass. I extend my personal thanks to WISC-TV Channel 3 for their cooperation and support.

I ask for your patience and continuing commitment as we work towards a comprehensive solution for the common good of Saint Victor Parish, Monroe, Saint Rose of Lima Parish, Brodhead, and the Apostolate to the Handicapped.

Msgr. Campion’s great legacy of service to the handicapped and Fr. Klarer’s strong leadership and commitment to parish ministry in the Monroe area demands a thoughtful and deliberate strategy for the future that allows the best choice of a successor to meet their excellent example and fulfill these demanding roles. Please join me in prayer as we move forward with hope into the future.

Sincerely in Christ,

Most Reverend Robert C. Morlino
Bishop of Madison
