Easter brings meaning to our lives forever

Victor Frankl, a world-famous Austrian psychiatrist, who survived a Nazi concentration camp noticed that those who survived the camp tended to have something or someone to live for!

Hence the expression, “A person with a why can live with any how!”

Christ was born to bring hope to us, to make life more meaningful in this world, and then offer us the hope of Eternity.

Creed of the People of God, Part Four

Knowing Your Faith column

John Joy

Continuing on with our series on the Creed of the People of God, in honor of its 50th anniversary this year, the next two sections are about the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Adaptation and renewal of Religious Life: Chastity and charity linked

Reflections on Religious Life column by Abbot Marcel Rooney

Editor’s note: During this Year of Consecrated Life, this is the eighth in a series based on the Second Vatican Council’s document, Perfectae Caritatis (Decree on the Adaptation and Renewal of Religious Life) written by Abbot Marcel Rooney, OSB, former abbot primate of the Benedictine order who now resides in Madison.

Adaptation and renewal of Religious Life: Special gifts of the Holy Spirit

Reflections on Religious Life column by Abbot Marcel RooneyEditor’s note: During this Year of Consecrated Life, this is the third in a series based on the Second Vatican Council’s document, Perfectae Caritatis (Decree on the Adaptation and Renewal of Religious Life) written by Abbot Marcel Rooney, OSB, former abbot primate of the Benedictine order who now resides in Madison.

The decree of the Second Vatican Council on which these reflections are based speaks in the very first paragraph about special gifts of the Holy Spirit which have been imparted to the Church.

The purpose of these gifts is the building up of the Church in the world, and for manifesting God’s own kind of Life in the world.

Why Fear of the Lord is an essential gift
