Students and staff in Jefferson present tribute to veterans
JEFFERSON — On Wednesday, Nov. 11, students and staff at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Jefferson presented their annual tribute to veterans in the parish church.
The eighth grade students escorted guests to their seats after presenting them with flags and patriotic wristbands.
Principal Mrs. Susan Loof formally welcomed veterans and thanked them for their service to our country. She then offered a prayer for the veterans and their families.
Ladies of Divine Mercy meet on November 20
PINE BLUFF — The Ladies of Divine Mercy will meet on Friday evening, Nov. 20, at St. Mary Church in Pine Bluff, 3673 CTH P, Cross Plains. All women are invited to attend.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. An hour of Adoration will be followed by a reflection by Fr. David Carrano, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Reedsburg and chaplain of Catholic Charismatic Renewal for the Diocese of Madison.
Fort Atkinson students take part in annual Rake-A-Thon
FORT ATKINSON — St. Joseph School recently participated in its third annual Rake-A-Thon.
The Rake-A-Thon, held on November 6, was a community service project that consisted of students, staff, and volunteers raking the lawns of parishioners.
The Rake-A-Thon was coordinated by second grade teacher Michele Simonson.
St. Thérèse Lecture on November 20
MADISON — The fall presentation in the St. Thérèse Lecture Series presented by the Diocese of Madison will be Friday, Nov. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Bishop O’Connor Center in Madison.
It will be entitled “A Treasure of Inestimable Value: The Beauty of Liturgy,” and will be given by Abbot Marcel Rooney, OSB.
Abbot Rooney is president of the Orate Institute of Sacred Liturgy, Music, and Art. The institute is dedicated to the renewal of the sacred liturgy in our churches and other Catholic institutions.

Seminarians visit students in Jefferson
JEFFERSON — Seminarians Vincent Racanelli and Phil Klaas visited the eighth graders at St. John the Baptist School in Jefferson on October 16.
The students have “adopted” Racanelli as their prayer partner and “parish son” who has embarked on the road to the priesthood.
The students in Margie Schels’ seventh and eighth grade classes have been praying for all seminarians, especially for Racanelli, since last year. He has visited the students several times to share about his vocational journey and his life as a student at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit.
Patron’s relics leave lasting impression at St. Maria Goretti Parish
MADISON — “Wow! What a 23 hours with the relic of St. Maria Goretti’s body in our parish and our church,” wrote Msgr. Michael Burke, pastor at St. Maria Goretti Parish in Madison, in his parish bulletin.
Relics of the parish’s patroness were at the parish from the morning of October 16 to the morning of October 17. More than 13,000 people from 11 states were estimated to have venerated the relics. According to the parish, there were two medically confirmed healings.
