FORT ATKINSON — St. Joseph School recently participated in its third annual Rake-A-Thon.

The Rake-A-Thon, held on November 6, was a community service project that consisted of students, staff, and volunteers raking the lawns of parishioners.

The Rake-A-Thon was coordinated by second grade teacher Michele Simonson.

St. Joseph students wore T-shirts, designed by seventh grader Mary Ellen Moran, with the names of the more than a dozen corporate sponsors printed on the back.

Fundraising goal exceeded

Through the generosity of pledges gathered by school families, the school exceeded its fundraising goal for the event.

The money raised will be used to improve digital tablet options, purchase additional classroom Chromebooks, and potentially additional SMART Board projectors.

Thanks to the community

“The kind words, encouragement, and support of the homeowners who had their lawns raked were much appreciated by those who participated in the half day event,” said St. Joseph Principal Kari Homb.

Homb also wanted to thank all who volunteered to help supervise the students, brought in snacks for the event, transported students and adults, and coordinated the details.
