Missionary to speak at UW on Ukraine riots

On February 4, 2015
Kevin Wondrash

MADISON — Valentyna Pavsyukova, founder of the nonprofit organization Chalice of Mercy, will speak at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Gordon Dining and Event Center. Badger Catholic invites all students and their friends to join the organization’s General Speaker Event, “Ukraine: The City Without God.”

During the presentation, students will have the opportunity to learn more about the Ukraine’s 2014 riots and how one woman made a difference in the midst of violence. After a moving conversion story, Pavsyukova wanted to devote her life to God and His will. “Suddenly, I thought of my own people in the Ukraine, who were hungry for faith,” she said. “How could I forget them?” Thus, Chalice of Mercy began its mission: an organization with a medical focus and a dedication to God.

Badger Catholic will provide an informative evening for UW-Madison’s students about the significance of Ukrainian welfare and faith in the midst of pain. As Pavsyukova shares her life story, her organization continues to flourish. Chalice of Mercy is growing in its mission to the hospice and orphanages and plans to build a pregnancy care center in Zaporozhye, which will also be a therapy center for children with special needs.
