What I want for Christmas

On December 15, 2020
Kevin Wondrash

Dear Santa,

For Christmas, I would like:

A case of Caffeine-Free Pepsi, a package of bacon, an Amazon gift card, and some Babcock Hall cookies ‘n’ cream ice cream.

I’d also like the energy, ambition, and desire to pray more. I want the habit of opening my Bible more and embracing God’s word. I want to make Holy Mass a centerpiece of my life and feel like every time I am going up for Communion that it’s the most important thing I’m doing that day.

I want an increase in discipleship and evangelization. I want Catholics to know and live their faith so well that leading others to Christ is a natural and normal occurrence.

I want our leaders to, with God’s help, grasp the importance of what they do, and make moral decisions for the common good of all. And also, that they know what that common good is.

I wouldn’t mind this virus becoming less of a nuisance either. You can switch out the ice cream for that.

I want an increase of patience for the whole world. I want to see decisions made by means of faith and trust and not panic and fear.

I want an increase in humility for the whole world. Less “me, me, me” and more “you, you, you” will bring out greater witnesses of love.

I want an increase in generosity for the whole world. We can change the world by asking “What can I give?” versus “What can I get?”

I want an increase in honesty for the whole world. I want to see less deception and more straightforwardness. I want to see more legitimacy in motives and less greed in how people interact and “use” others in their lives.

I want an increase in chastity in the whole world. I want to see everyone treasure the physical gifts that God gave them and use them according to His plan.

I want abortion to be unwanted and unfathomable.

I hope you, the missus, the elves, and the reindeer are doing well.

Love,

Kevin
