Annual Catholic Appeal: Your gifts in action

On September 8, 2021September 7, 2021
Kristen Beckett

MADISON — The Office of Evangelization and Catechesis (OEC) exists to aid the bishop in fulfilling his mission of proclaiming and teaching the Good News of Jesus Christ with an overarching goal to have everyone in the diocese hear every day a loving and gentle invitation to meet Jesus Christ, risen from the dead in a life-changing way.

The office handles many important ministries and programs that enrich the faith of everyone from children to seniors, a few of these include:

  • Camp Gray Adventure Days
  • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
  • Frassati Fest
  • Love Begins Here
  • Marriage preparation
  • Parish catechetical leaders
  • Seat of Wisdom Diocesan Institute (SOWDI)
  • St. Thérèse Lecture Series
  • Totus Tuus
  • Young adult Holy Hours

On top of all of these ministries, which you can read more about by visiting madisondiocese.org/oec the OEC is one of the driving forces that helps to plan and implement “Go Make Disciples” — a bold, robust, evangelizing initiative throughout the diocese.

As you can see, this office works tirelessly to enrich the ministries that enable so many throughout our diocese to better know, love, and serve the Lord — no matter what age someone is or where they are on their faith journey.

In order to provide these ministries to the faithful across the diocese though, the office counts on the support of generous donors to the Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA).

Through these gifts, the OEC is able to continue to build upon these ministries and invite more to know Jesus.

If you know a couple who has gone through marriage preparation classes, a child who has participated in Totus Tuus, a teenager who has taken part in Love Begins Here or Frassati Fest, or a couple who has celebrated a milestone wedding anniversary, then you know someone who has benefited from the generosity of an ACA donor.

We want to take a moment to thank all of those who have made a gift to the 2021 ACA, your gift has touched the lives of many.

If you have not had the opportunity to make a gift, consider doing so by visiting madisondiocese.org/acagive

The above is just a sliver of the areas that your gift can support, and moving forward each month, we will highlight different areas and stories so you can see the impact that your gift makes.

Kristen Beckett is the director of Annual Appeals for the Office of Stewardship and Development for the Diocese of Madison.
