‘Neutral’ not good enough

On December 10, 2009
Ellen Timmerman, Cuba City

To the editor:

I read with interest the bishops’ statement in the Catholic Herald on health care reform and also Kim Wadas’ “Amendment preserves long standing protection.”

What protection? The last time I read the Bible the Fifth Commandment was “You shall not kill.” So how could “the Catholic bishops pledge continued efforts to keep abortion neutral”?

They can KILL innocent babies in the womb if it is rape etc. in this bill. Abortion is the killing of a tiny helpless infant baby and no words in the health bill make a difference except no exceptions!

Do the Catholic bishops and Kim Wadas really think this was really an important decision? It was horrible. Only when everyone in this country has “personship” from the first moment of conception until natural death (including everyone, unborn, young, and old) will we be doing God’s will.

Ellen Timmerman, Cuba City
