There will be an election on April 2 in which Wisconsinites will choose a new member of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Of the two candidates, there is only one who has respect for the God-given and constitutional right to life at all stages, and the right to worship without persecution.
As most people know, abortion advocates in many states are quickly moving to have abortion legal until after the birth of the child — that is infanticide! Cases have occurred where babies born alive due to a failed abortion are denied basic care and left to die.
This issue has not come to Wisconsin, but when it does, who would you want on the State Supreme Court? It is imperative for Catholics to ensure that there is a Wisconsin Supreme Court judge who will stand on the side of the poor innocent children fighting for their lives.
In this divisive race for the Supreme Court, there are claims that one’s Christian beliefs are a disqualifying factor characteristic for a Supreme Court justice. Our country’s founders wisely chose to enshrine in our Constitution, “No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification for office” (Article IV Clause 3).
Where is our country going if a candidate is barred from serving on the State Supreme Court due to his Christian beliefs? We must put a stop to this before it is too late.
Catholics should talk to their friends and family about the impact of this election. Every vote is desperately needed. Please do your research, and vote on April 2.
