40 Days for Life campaign kicks off September 28

On August 25, 2016
Kevin Wondrash

MADISON — The 40 Days for Life campaign, a peaceful, non-denominational initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigils at abortion facilities, and grassroots educational outreach, kicks off on September 28.

“We know 40 Days for Life has made a difference in Madison. Our volunteers have made extraordinary sacrifices to expose the abortion industry and to protect children and their mothers from abortion,” said Gwen Finnegan, who is coordinating the local campaign this year.

According to Finnegan, 25 Catholic parishes within the Diocese of Madison took part in the 2015 campaign, 960 volunteers contributed 1,920 hours of service to the community, and multiple lives were saved from abortion.

This year the campaign will feature a peaceful 40-day prayer vigil in the public right-of-way outside Planned Parenthood at 3706 Orin Rd. All prayer vigil participants are asked to sign a statement of peace, pledging to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner at all times.
