‘Taste of Divine Mercy’ to be held in Sauk City

On April 21, 2016
Chris Lee

SAUK CITY — The Mary, Mother of God women’s group from Divine Mercy Parish will be hosting the “Taste of Divine Mercy: An Adoration Chapel Celebration” on Saturday, April 23 after the 4:30 Mass in the St. Aloysius School gym in Sauk City.

Bids will be taken towards an assortment of foods and a silent auction. All proceeds from the celebration will be geared toward the upkeep of the Adoration Chapel.

Food and silent auction

The food will be provided by those with special recipes that they would like to share. Dishes will compete against other dishes in the same category and votes will be based on monetary donations. Hot dogs, beer, wine, and soda will be available for purchase.

There will be a silent auction of such items as a homemade quilt, furniture, gift certificates, themed baskets, handmade Rosaries, American Girl dolls, children’s books, and much more.

Adoration Chapel

Fr. John Blewett, pastor, will present the second phase of the chapel enhancement, which will include additional statues, a set of magnificent stain glass windows, and other installments.

The Adoration Chapel has been welcoming prayers from the surrounding area for over a year now. The women’s group at Divine Mercy Parish has dedicated its talents as caretaker of the Adoration Chapel through prayers, upkeep, and fundraising.

The group meets twice a month. At one of the monthly meetings, Father Blewett gives a talk, followed by a celebration of the Holy Mass in the chapel. All women are welcome to join in the activities at any time depending upon their desires and interests.

Laura Breunig is president of the women’s group and also Adoration coordinator for vacations and illnesses. She commented, “I felt the need to help provide the women of our parish an opportunity to get together for prayer, for fun, and to be caretakers of our Adoration Chapel.

“We will also have some special events this year. We will be watching a DVD series to learn more about our faith and in May we will be taking a day trip to Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine in La Crosse.”

In encouraging others to consider Adoration, Breunig adds, “My faith has grown tremendously because of our Adoration Chapel. It is my favorite place to go to be with our Lord. No matter how my day is going, I feel renewed when I leave. Each time I go to Adoration, I am reminded how blessed we are to have such a beautiful place to go to adore Jesus and be in His presence in such an intimate way.”

Celebrate chapel’s success

Louise Ballweg and her daughter Danielle Hruby have dedicated enormous time and talent towards the planning and preparation for the “Taste of Divine Mercy.” Louise said, “Our Adoration Chapel has been underway for over a year now. It’s a beautiful accomplishment and this event is a way to thank all those who have made it possible through their love and dedication to Christ.

“I’d like to encourage people to come to the ‘Taste of Divine Mercy’ and help us celebrate the success of our Adoration Chapel! Take some time out of your busy lives to kick back and enjoy some great food and drink, and hang out with an awesome group of people.”

Breunig added, “I encourage all of our current adorers and subs in particular to come. Without the dedication of each one of them, our chapel would not be possible. Plus we would like to get a group picture.

“For those who are not currently an adorer or substitute, it will be a great way to get to know other parishioners and to celebrate the chapel as well as eat some great food. We will have the chapel open to view as well as information on how to become an adorer or to be on our substitute list.”
