Bishop’s ‘uncompromising Catholic presence’ praised

To the editor:

I read with mixed emotions an article in the March 22 issue of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel titled “Supporters lobby for Catholic lay worker in Beloit.” As I expected, Bishop Morlino had once again made an executive decision based on the teachings of the Catholic Church and not on the latest popularity poll.

President could speak, but don’t give him a degree

To the editor:

Stop taxpayer funding of abortions

To the editor:

The Hyde Amendment and over a dozen other right-to-life provisions that protect you from having to pay for abortions are up for grabs in Washington. On the other hand, according to Archbishop Rino Fisichella, president of the Pontifical Academy for Life, adult stem-cell research has led to the cure of some 2,000 diseases.

The members, volunteers, and staff of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Madison extend our sincere thanks for the tremendous contribution of food we received recently from nine area Catholic schools. Remember the words of Pope John Paul II on life

To the editor:

On October 7, 1979, John Paul II, in his first visit to the United States as pope, spoke at the Mall in Washington, D.C., and said the following words: “We will stand up and proclaim that no one has the authority to destroy unborn human life.”
