Catholic Diocese of Madison Foundation continues to grow efforts, help others

On March 31, 2021
Erin Kerns, For the Catholic Herald

MADISON — The Catholic Diocese of Madison Foundation (CDMF) is happy to share some great news from our fundholders over the past few months.

Endowment fund

In 2014, St. Dennis Parish in Madison established the St. Dennis Catholic Education Endowment Fund to support both their grade school and religious education programs.

Over the past seven years, the fund has seen significant growth, made possible by the faithful support of the parish and strong investment returns.

As of December 31, 2020, the fund’s balance was valued at almost $1.1 million. Since its inception, the fund had distributed $231,805 in support of the parish and school.

Fr. Randy Timmerman, pastor of St. Dennis, shared the following after reaching the $1 million mark: “I am uplifted by parishioners’ support of the Endowment Fund here at St. Dennis. Year after year, people continue to make sacrificial gifts in support of Catholic Education and understand the importance of caring for the next generation.”

Congratulations to St. Dennis on surpassing this milestone.

This endowment will continue to be a gift to the parish for many years to come.

New funds

The CDMF is also excited to share about a couple of new funds!

At the end of 2020, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Endowment Fund was established to provide financial assistance for the operating needs and programs of St. Vincent de Paul’s (SVdP) District Council of Madison. SVdP is an outreach ministry that serves our brothers and sisters in need throughout the country.

Check with your parish to see if there is a local council near you.

In February, the Mary Catherine Matuska Pro-Life Endowment Fund was created to celebrate the numerous contributions Mary made to the pro-life movement in Wisconsin.

This fund will support parish and community-based pro-life efforts throughout the diocese. You can read more information in an article next month.

It has been so encouraging to see these funds and the ministries they support grow.

If you would like to learn more about the CDMF or how to establish your own legacy fund, please visit https://www.diocesemadisonfoundation.org or contact Erin at [email protected]

On behalf of the CDMF board of directors and staff, we want to wish you all a joyful and blessed Easter season!
