DODGEVILLE — Students in kindergarten through eighth grade from St. Joseph School in Dodgeville recently created art for the third annual Walk/Run that will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 10 a.m., in connection with the St. Joseph Parish picnic.

The projects will be sold at a silent auction, which be held the same day.

The kindergarten project is called “Up,” where the students used balloons for their artistic creations.

The first grade class mimicked Russian painter Wassily Kadinsky’s work “Circles,” but they made rectangles.

The second grade class water-painted hands for their work called “Hearts and Hands.”

The third grade class made flowers to recreate Vincent van Gogh’s “Sunflowers.”

The fourth grade class did a canvas of Wisconsin birds.

The fifth grade class used crayons to depict van Gogh’s “Starry Night.”

The sixth grade class did self-portraits.

The seventh grade class wove various fabrics around CDs to make a wall hanging.

The eighth grade class sewed strips for their own memory quilt, which includes their baby pictures and current pictures.

A parent with an art degree, Andee Roll, voluntarily worked with the classes on their projects.

Meantime, registrations are still being accepted for the 5K race.

The walk/run is a fundraiser for the school.
