Evening prayer, reflection at Blessed Sacrament Church

On January 14, 2015
Kevin Wondrash

MADISON — Evening prayer and reflection marking the Feast of St. Thomas Aquinas will be held on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 7 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church.

The reflection entitled “Graced Experience: Discerning the Call of God in Our Lives” will be presented by Edward Hahnenberg, Ph.D.

Dr. Hahnenberg will look at how the theology of Thomas Aquinas is a theology of grace — a vision of God alive and at work in the world. He will draw on this vision as we reflect on our own lives and the ways in which God calls us forth to serve.

Dr. Hahnenberg is the Jack and Mary Jane Breen Chair in Catholic Systematic Theology at John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio. He taught previously at Xavier University in Cincinnati and at the University of Notre Dame, where he received his Ph.D. in 2002.

Dr. Hahnenberg is the author of four books: Ministries: A Relational Approach (Crossroad, 2003), A Concise Guide to the Documents of Vatican II (St. Anthony Messenger Press, 2007), Awakening Vocation: A Theology of Christian Call (Liturgical Press, 2010), and Theology for Lay Ministry: An Introduction for Lay Ministers (Liturgical Press, 2014). He has written numerous articles in academic and pastoral journals.

He is currently a delegate to the U.S. Lutheran-Catholic Dialogue and was a theological consultant to the U.S. Bishops’ Subcommittee on Lay Ministry in its preparation of the document Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord.
