MADISON — People throughout the Diocese of Madison have been hearing much in recent months about the Priests for Our Future Campaign, which seeks to raise $30 million for the education and formation of seminarians.

The funds raised in the Priests for Our Future Campaign are being housed in The Catholic Diocese of Madison Foundation (CDMF), which was incorporated in 2006 to serve parishes, schools, and parish members in the Diocese of Madison.

The CDMF assists all involved in promoting the works of Christ through responsible Christian stewardship for the preservation and promotion of the Catholic Church.

CDMF board

In 2014, Daun Maier was named as the first executive director of the CDMF. She previously served as director of stewardship and development for the Diocese of Madison and had already begun the work of getting the CDMF up and running and its board established.

“We are engaging talented people from the laity to create a viable resource with the foundation,” said Maier, noting that the board includes priests and parishioners from throughout the Diocese of Madison who supervise the affairs of the foundation.

Bishop Robert C. Morlino serves as chairman of the foundation board. Msgr. James R. Bartylla, vicar general, and Kevin Phelan, chancellor of the diocese, are also board members.

The board crosses many professional disciplines, including executive management, audit and governance, marketing and development, investment management, and financial leadership.

Four new members were added since the initial board was appointed. New members include:

• Matthew Gonnering, president/CEO of Widen Enterprises and member of St. John the Baptist Parish, Waunakee.

• Paul Jadin, president of Madison Region Economic Partnership and member of St. Maria Goretti Parish, Madison.

• Matthew Lee, attorney with Foley and Lardner and member of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Madison.

• James Rosemeyer, owner/investment advisor of Rosemeyer Management Group and a member of St. Mary Parish, Platteville.

Priests for Our Future

At the foundation board’s fall meeting, Monsignor Bartylla gave a report on the Priests for Our Future Campaign.

There was much discussion on the campaign, its purpose, and efforts to maintain the integrity of the funds raised.

The CDMF is conducting the campaign, assisted by CCS, which provides fundraising consulting services throughout the country.

Other options

Besides the Priests for Our Future Campaign, the CDMF helps individuals and parish communities create secure and well-managed funds with a long-term focus that uphold Catholic values through socially responsible investing and assure solid financial returns for today and tomorrow.

The CDMF manages, and makes available to donors, endowment and non-endowment options (or designated funds) to allow donors to specify particular charitable interests that will receive sustained support.

“The foundation is able to accept existing endowments, establish new endowments, or help create non-endowed designated funds with a long-term vision with an initial contribution of $25,000,” said Maier.

“Contact the CDMF staff to learn how easy contributing to an existing endowment or creating your own personal fund can be,” she said.
