Lenten afternoon of reflection at St. Bernard, Madison

On March 13, 2014
Kevin Wondrash

MADISON — St. Bernard Parish, 2450 Atwood Ave., will offer a Lenten afternoon of reflection on Sunday, March 16, beginning at 4 p.m.

The format of the afternoon will be similar to that of Lessons and Carols, which is popular during the seasons of Advent and Christmas.

Selections from sacred Scripture will be paired with hymns and spirituals from the latest parish CD. Soloists will include Fr. Michael Radowicz, pastor of St. Bernard Parish, and Anna Purnell, with members of the St. Bernard Children’s Choir.

Fr. Patrick Mulcahy, a priest of the Diocese of Joliet, Ill., and pastor of Notre Dame Parish in Clarendon Hills, will be the keynote homilist. He will preach on the themes of reconciliation and forgiveness and our need for a savior.

The afternoon program promises to be an inspiring time of reflection, giving participants the opportunity to reflect more deeply on becoming a people that give more freely the gifts of forgiveness and mercy.

“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you” (Matthew 6:14-15).
