Sister Alisa Prickett, OP, dies

SINSINAWA — Dominican Sister Alisa Prickett died Nov. 9, 2009, at the Dominican Motherhouse, Sinsinawa. The funeral Mass will be held in Queen of the Rosary Chapel at Sinsinawa Nov. 16, 2009, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.

Sister Alisa made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1955, and her final profession Aug. 5, 1958.

Sister Alisa ministered in elementary education for 36 years, 19 as teacher and 17 as principal. She served in parish ministry for eight years; family care for one year; as transportation manager at the Motherhouse for nearly two years; and as a volunteer as St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa, for six years. Sister Alisa served in Wisconsin, New Jersey, Illinois, New York, Texas, Iowa, Oklahoma and New Mexico.

In the Diocese of Madison, Sister Alisa taught at St. Joseph, Baraboo, 1955-1958. She served as the transportation manager at the Motherhouse, 2001-2003, and volunteered at St. Dominic Villa, Sinsinawa, 2003-2009.

Sister Alisa was born March 18, 1933, in Oshkosh, Wis., the daughter of George and Alice (Taylor) Prickett. Her parents; two sisters, Mary Putzer and Ann Nipko; and five brothers, William Prickett, Philip Price, Henry Prickett, George Prickett, and James Prickett, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Arietta Prickett; a brother, Joseph Prickett; and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared life for 54 years.
