Restaurants team up to support Durward’s Glen

BARABOO/PORTAGE — The Pizza Ranch restaurants in Baraboo and Portage are holding Community Impact Nights to benefit Durward‘s Glen OLRG, Ltd.

The event in Baraboo will be on Monday, Oct. 26, at the Pizza Ranch at 1000 Log Lodge Ct. The event in Portage will be on Monday, Nov. 2, at the Pizza Ranch at 2905 New Pinery Rd. Both events run from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Midwest Call to Chivalry camp held at Durward’s Glen

BARABOO — The American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) is an organization of lay Catholic Americans concerned about the moral crisis shaking the remnants of Christian civilization.

Its origins date back to January 1971, when the first TFP members started to group around the publication Crusade for a Christian Civilization.

Today, with over 120,000 active members, volunteers, and donors, the TFP is on the front lines of the “Culture War,” peacefully defending the values of tradition, family, and private ownership.

Women’s prayer retreat at Durward’s Glen

BARABOO — There is an upcoming retreat for women at Durward‘s Glen retreat and conference center located at W11876 McLeisch Rd. in Baraboo.

The Sacred Intercession Prayer Retreat is on Friday, Sept. 11, and Saturday, Sept. 12.

It starts on Friday with registration and a reception from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by the first talk and Eucharistic Adoration in the chapel. It continues Saturday with 7:30 a.m. Mass followed by breakfast. The session starts at 8:30 a.m. with lunch at 12 noon. It ends at 3 p.m.

Abbot Marcel Rooney to lead retreats at Durward’s Glen

BARABOO — Two different retreat weekends are planned for Durward’s Glen Retreat and Conference Center in Baraboo featuring Abbot Marcel Rooney, who has extensive knowledge of sacred liturgy, music, and art.

The theme for his talks will be “Making Holy Mass a Dynamic Force in Our Christian Lives.” During three talks at the two retreats, Abbot Rooney will focus on the components of the liturgy of the Mass and its relationship to our spiritual life and growth.

Volunteers sought for Corpus Christi at Durward’s Glen

BARABOO — The 102nd annual Corpus Christi Mass and procession at Durward’s Glen will take place on Sunday, June 7, at 11 a.m.

The Mass will be celebrated at the outdoor Holy Family altar by Fr. Pedro Escribano.

The Knights of Columbus will serve a picnic-style meal after the Mass and procession.

Corpus Christi Mass at Durward’s Glen

BARABOO — The 102nd annual Corpus Christi Mass and procession at Durward’s Glen will take place on Sunday, June 7, at 11 a.m.

The Mass will be celebrated at the outdoor Holy Family altar by Fr. Pedro Escribano of the Society of Jesus Christ the Priest.

After Mass, the Eucharistic procession will begin from the hilltop and include Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, flower girls, candles, incense, local musicians, flags, a crucifix, and the Blessed Sacrament carried under a decorative canopy.

Facilitator training retreat for Lord Teach Me to Pray series

BARABOO — The Midwest Facilitator Training Retreat for the Lord Teach Me to Pray (LTMTP) Series will be held Friday to Sunday, May 29 to 31, at Durward’s Glen Retreat and Conference Center.

Training for part one of LTMTP, Praying the Christian Virtues, will begin Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Mass and end Saturday at 3 p.m.

Training for part two of LTMTP, “My 19th Annotation,” will begin Saturday evening at 7 p.m. and end Sunday at 12 noon. There will be Mass on both Saturday and Sunday morning at 8 a.m. during the retreat.

Gala for the Glen features The Kells

BARABOO — The third annual Gala for the Glen, with Irish food, music, and fellowship, will be held at St. Joseph Catholic School gym, 300 Second St., on Saturday, May 30, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $50 and are available at Durward’s Glen or at the St. Joseph Parish office.

Following a dinner of shepherd‘s pie and Gaelic chicken catered by Claddagh Irish Pub from Middleton, The Kells, an international Irish band, will entertain with traditional Irish music.

Plein Air Painting Event to be held at Durward’s Glen

BARABOO — Artists at all levels are invited to join the Plein Air Painting Event which will be held Wednesday, May 13, at Durward’s Glen Retreat and Conference Center from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Participants should meet on the front steps of the chapel porch.

Plein air — French words literally translated as “open air” — are defined as painting or drawing done outside, in the open air.
