Virtual Lourdes Pilgrimage coming to Diocese of Madison

PRINCETON/NESKORO — Our Lady of Lourdes Hospitality North American Volunteers, LTD, will lead a Virtual Lourdes Pilgrimage in the Diocese of Madison.

They will be visiting St. John Catholic School in Princeton and St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro on Thursday, March 19. The scheduled presenters are Pamela and James Barton from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

The Volunteers were founded in the Diocese of Syracuse, N.Y., on July 16, 2002. In 2012, to honor the association’s 10th anniversary, Pope Benedict granted a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, to those who attend the Lourdes Virtual Pilgrimage Experience. Since so many responded to this grace, in 2013, Pope Francis granted a second plenary indulgence extending through 2020.

MADISON — Bishop Donald J. Hying will be leading a pilgrimage to France October 5 to 15, 2020.

He invited people to join him on the 11-day pilgrimage.

“I joyfully invite everyone to join me on a pilgrimage to France this October. A sacred journey to discover the treasures of the French saints, this trip will unfold the lives and sanctity of Saints Bernadette, John Vianney, Francis de Sales, Jane Frances de Chantal, Margaret Mary, Joan of Arc, Thérèse of Lisieux, Vincent de Paul, Catherine Laboure, and Louise de Marillac.

“We will visit Lourdes, Paris, and the Normandy beaches. We will see the glory of cathedrals, the beauty of the French countryside, and the treasures of our Catholic Faith. We will celebrate Mass every day, pray the Rosary on the bus, enjoy impeccable food and lodgings.”

Highlights of the pilgrimage include a visit to the small town of Ars to see the incorrupt St. John Vianney, patron of parish priests. Pilgrims will visit the Basilica of Ars, the former home of the Curé, the underground church, and the St. John Vianney Wax Museum.

Consecrated women bring the love and mercy of God

Each February, the Church celebrates two events of special significance to Little Sisters of the Poor.

On February 5, the Church celebrates the World Day of Consecrated Life, a day important to all men and women religious. On February 11, the World Day of the Sick is observed.

Each of these special days offers an opportunity for us to affirm our vocation as consecrated women devoted to the Church’s mission of compassion through the ministry of healthcare.
