‘Our Faith Stories’ at St. Ann Parish

STOUGHTON — The September “Our Faith Stories” at St. Ann Catholic Church will feature Dan Schultz and Marie Powers. They will share their stories Sunday, Sept. 25, at 6:30 p.m. in Healy Hall.

Dan said about his talk, “My story is a collection of rambling thoughts from a guy on the older side of middle-aged, shaped by his experiences of being a son, brother, friend, husband, and father.

St. Michael in Calamine marks 100 years

CALAMINE — St. Michael Parish in Calamine was established in November of 1916.

St. Michael Parish merged with four other parishes on July 12, 2015, to become Our Lady of Fatima Parish.

The long-standing members of St. Michael’s decided a 100-year celebration was in order to commemorate the history of St. Michael Church.

Westport parish celebrates 150 years of faith

Special collection to be taken for flood victims

MADISON — The Diocese of Madison will join in a special collection for flood victims in Louisiana to be taken in parishes on the weekend of September 18.

The president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville, Ky., called on Catholic parishes across the U.S. to take a second collection on or around September 18. He encouraged U. S. Catholics “to respond generously. Our prayer and material support is urgently needed to help rebuild lives.”

Federation of North American Explorers meets at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish

MONONA — The Federation of North American Explorers (FNE) is part of a worldwide movement of the Catholic Church, approved by the Holy See. The group meets on the first, third, and fifth Mondays of the month at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Monona during the school year.

Meetings include games, Scripture study, and occasional projects with the goal of forming ordinary saints. The group camps overnight once during autumn, winter, and spring. Monthly Saturday outings begin with Mass and include activities as well as occasional service to the host parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary, as well as in the community.

Christ the King Parish continues Rosary Rallies

MCFARLAND — How do we show love to those who are hostile to us because of our Christian beliefs? How do we persevere in the faith when others would like to eliminate God and religion from this country?

What can we do to bring the light of Christ’s truth and mercy to the attacks on our religious liberty?

The most important thing we can do is to recognize that these are spiritual battles and we must counter them with prayer — the Holy Rosary being the greatest weapon in our arsenal.

Mazzuchelli Memorial Mass and dinner on August 28

BENTON — The annual Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli Memorial Mass and dinner will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at St. Patrick Church, Benton. The public is invited to attend the day’s events sponsored by the Father Mazzuchelli Assembly 1202 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Lancaster.

Prior to the Mass, the public is invited to visit St. Augustine Church, New Diggings. Tours will be given from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by the Knights. The church was designed and built by Father Mazzuchelli in 1844 and is the only church that remains as he originally designed it. The Knights have restored the church.

Confraternity of Most Holy Rosary begins at Blessed Sacrament Parish

MADISON — The Lay Dominicans of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Madison are beginning the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary.

The first meeting will be held on Monday, Aug. 22 (Feast of the Queenship of Mary), in Blessed Sacrament Church, 2121 Rowley Ave., from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The group will continue to meet at this time on the fourth Monday of every month. You do not need to be a member to come and pray with the group.

This is an apostolate of the Dominican Laity at Blessed Sacrament. Meetings will consist of a 15-minute talk about the Mysteries of the Rosary, followed by the recitation of the Rosary.

Blessed Sacrament Parish hosts mission featuring relic of St. Jude

MADISON — Blessed Sacrament Parish will host a three-day mission featuring veneration of the arm relic of St. Jude, believed to be the largest relic of an Apostle outside of Rome, Italy.

Fr. Michail Ford, OP, director of the Dominican Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus in Chicago, will lead the St. Jude Mission of Mercy and Hope from Monday to Wednesday, July 25, 26, and 27, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2116 Hollister Ave.
