Blessed Sacrament Parish hosts mission featuring relic of St. Jude

On July 14, 2016
Kevin Wondrash

MADISON — Blessed Sacrament Parish will host a three-day mission featuring veneration of the arm relic of St. Jude, believed to be the largest relic of an Apostle outside of Rome, Italy.

Fr. Michail Ford, OP, director of the Dominican Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus in Chicago, will lead the St. Jude Mission of Mercy and Hope from Monday to Wednesday, July 25, 26, and 27, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2116 Hollister Ave.

The mission will address “how the message of hope inspired by St. Jude devotions can help us overcome what seems to be the most difficult and seemingly hopeless situations,” according to Bill Skowronski, director of communications for the Dominican Friars, Central Province U.S.A.

“(The mission is) aimed at showing how Pope Francis’ teaching on God’s mercy can give us the hope we need to thrive in today’s tumultuous world,” he added.

Each evening begins at 7 p.m. with the recitation of the Rosary and St. Jude devotions. Veneration of the arm relic of St. Jude will follow Father Ford’s presentation.

On Wednesday, July 27, the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered from 5 to 6:30 p.m. before the 7 p.m. Mass and blessings with St. Jude oil, concluding the mission.
