Pro-life individuals and organizations are working to change laws and public opinion, and they are making a difference in our state and across our nation.
Wisconsin experienced over a 10 percent decline in abortions in 2014, continuing a trend of fewer abortions during the past five years.
One way this has happened is that lives are being saved — one baby at a time — thanks to the commitment of pro-life pregnancy centers and volunteers.

Pro-life Catholics from across Wisconsin need to act now and contact our state representatives and state senators to support three important pro-life bills:
• Assembly Bill 305 will stop the sale and trafficking of aborted baby body parts in Wisconsin. If you have not seen the recent disturbing videos of Planned Parenthood’s staff harvesting baby body parts after abortions, go to the Center for Medical Progress website and watch all of the videos that have been released so far.
On September 2 at a public hearing of the state Assembly Committee on Health, the Wisconsin Catholic Conference (WCC) testified in favor of reforming how Title X of the federal Public Health Service Act funds are disbursed in Wisconsin.
Abortion has been legal in the United States since 1973, but that doesn’t mean most Americans approve of abortion.
According to a national Marist University survey released this year, the vast majority of Americans are very uncomfortable with abortion. Eighty-four percent said that laws should protect both the well-being of a woman and the life of the unborn child. The poll revealed that a majority of Americans say abortion is morally wrong (60 percent).
The survey also found support for abortion restrictions among both “pro-life” and “pro-choice” supporters, according to an article on www.lifenews.com

On July 14, a shocking video came out exposing Planned Parenthood in the selling of baby organs for profit. Planned Parenthood Federation Senior Director of Medical Services Dr. Deborah Nucatola talked about the business of selling baby human organs to two undercover actors from the Center For Medical Progress posing as buyers.
She told of instructing abortionists to deliver live, intact, late term babies breech so organs (heads, livers, lungs, and hearts) are not damaged and can be sold (usually, aborted babies are ripped apart in pieces while still alive and inside the womb). This requires killing live babies even after they are born — when it is illegal to kill babies.

I just read in the very last paragraph of an article in the June 2 Wisconsin State Journal, “Walker ready to sign 20-week abortion bill,” this statistic for 2013: “89 of 6,500 abortions were performed after 20 weeks.” A mere 89 little people were killed after 20 weeks and the rest were younger. No big deal!
It’s sickening to see the apathy of a once-great nation in regard to standards of living. Who are we to judge which is more important, the life of the child or of the mother?

MADISON — Whether it’s the March for Life in Washington, D.C., a meeting of pro-life leaders from across the state, or a gathering of two dozen prayer warriors on a frigid winter morning, the message is always the same before, during, and after these events — “there’s more work to be done.”
If the optimistically self-proclaimed “pro-life generation” is to meet its goal of ending abortion, there’s no time to pause while celebrating the baby-saving victories and no pause to be content when an abortion clinic closes — there’s more work to be done.
The previous night’s snow stopped with enough time to make the roads good for winter travel en route to a prayer vigil outside the Planned Parenthood clinic on Madison’s east side on January 27.
It was hosted by Vigil for Life Madison — a volunteer organization whose members pray, fast, and peacefully witness for an end to abortion in the Madison area.
It marked the 42nd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion across the United States.
The vigil was held five days after the actual anniversary when hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers — some from the Madison area — participated in the March for Life in our nation’s capital as well as the Walk for Life in California.
As people began to gather on the sidewalk outside the busy clinic, the first prayer of choice was an obvious one — the Divine Mercy Chaplet — imploring both the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary to intercede on behalf of the unborn, family members who have lost a child due to abortion, and the clinic owner and workers that their hearts may be changed.
News media reported that world leaders — including Muslim and Jewish statesmen — linked arms on January 11 to lead more than a million French citizens through Paris in an unprecedented march to pay tribute to victims of Islamist militant attacks.
Commentators said the last time crowds of this size filled the streets of the capital was at the liberation of Paris from Nazi Germany in 1944.
While we mourn the tragic deaths in Paris — including the journalists and police who were killed there — I also find it ironic that over one billion unborn children have been killed in the world since 1980 and over 57 million unborn children have died in the United States by abortion since 1973.
Do we have a tremendous outcry about these lives lost? Do we mourn the deaths of these unborn babies?

The Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism recently published an excellent article about the inspector general for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services conducting a much-needed audit of the multi-million dollar family planning industry in our state.
The recent article highlighted that clinics “overbilled Medicaid by $3.5 million.”

It’s happened again. The number of abortions in Wisconsin has dropped for the fifth straight year. Nine of the last 10 years have seen a decline in abortions in our state, making Wisconsin one of the most pro-life states in the nation, according to some commentators.
The state Department of Health Services reported that 6,462 abortions were performed last year, down from 6,927 the previous year and about 2,000 less than the 8,500 Wisconsin had in 2009.
“Today is a fantastic news day for Wisconsin women and children,” said Heather Weininger, executive director of Wisconsin Right to Life, when the report was released.
“Our steep abortion decline continues with the release of 2013 abortion numbers which reveal there were 465 fewer abortions in 2013 than in 2012. This represents a 6.7 percent decrease in one year.”
Weininger added, “We are extremely grateful for each and every woman who gives life to her child and each unborn child saved from the violence of abortion. Wisconsin Right to Life will vigorously continue its multi-faceted programs which work to fuel the decline.”
