PRAIRIE DU SAC — We recently celebrated All Saints’ Day. This celebration makes manifest our belief that there is a powerful spiritual bond between those in heaven (the “Church Triumphant”), and the living (the “Church Militant”).

We venerate relics — not because the individual saint is worthy of some sort of worship, or because there is anything inherently powerful in the relic itself — but because relics are used by God as a means of grace and to show His power and love.

Blessed Sacrament Parish hosts mission featuring relic of St. Jude

MADISON — Blessed Sacrament Parish will host a three-day mission featuring veneration of the arm relic of St. Jude, believed to be the largest relic of an Apostle outside of Rome, Italy.

Fr. Michail Ford, OP, director of the Dominican Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus in Chicago, will lead the St. Jude Mission of Mercy and Hope from Monday to Wednesday, July 25, 26, and 27, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2116 Hollister Ave.

Plenary Indulgence for those who venerate St. Maria Goretti relics

MADISON — From the Vatican, the Apostolic Penitentiary issued a Plenary Indulgence under the usual conditions for all those who venerate the relics of St. Maria Goretti during the September to November U.S. tour.

The relics of St. Maria Goretti will be in Madison at St. Maria Goretti Church, 5313 Flad Ave., from the morning of Friday, Oct. 16, to the morning of Saturday, Oct. 17.
