Editor’s note: This is the first column in a series by Lillian Quinones, president of the Guardians for Life group at St. Ambrose Academy in Madison. The column will profile professionals who inspire us through their courageous witness to their Catholic identity as defenders of life.
MONONA — Nearly 150 alumni, students, and prospective students of Madison’s St. Ambrose Academy gathered on May 12 on the campus of Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Monona for Mass, games, activities, and refreshments, marking the Academy’s third All-Class Reunion, and celebrating Catholic education’s important part in the lives of families.
The day began with Mass offered by Fr. Bart Timmerman, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. Eight altar servers assisted at Mass, including St. Ambrose class of 2009 alumnus and diocesan seminarian Andy Teeter, as well as a current student and prospective students from the parish.
Bishop Robert C. Morlino told over 500 guests at the recent St. Ambrose Academy Benefit Dinner held at the Marriott Hotel in Middleton that today a bishop needs to be a theologian, a defender of the faith, and an apologist.

The City of Madison Plan Commission has approved a request by St. Ambrose Academy to teach as many as 140 students in the education wing of St. Thomas Aquinas Parish at 602 Everglade Dr.
