I have a sign in my home that reads “Blessed”. I am sure I am not alone. Many of us have this word on a sign somewhere reminding us of how God has blessed us in our lives.
Have you ever thought about what blessings God has blessed you with?
There are so many things in our daily lives we take for granted.
Items we forget that, without God’s true presence in our lives, where would we be? What would we have?
As I start to pray each day, I thank God for all my blessings.
I am sure I forget many, but I try to list as many as possible to keep them fresh in my mind so I don’t take them for granted.
I feel this centers my prayers and life to one of gratitude for what God has given to me, so I, in turn, can focus on offering my prayers and my gifts, or charisms, to those who need them.
Stop and think. It is so easy to think of the blessings in our lives that are obvious.
You know what I am talking about — family, friends, health, etc.
But, what about the blessings that are less obvious — job, life, death (yes, you read this correctly)?
Our blessings are what makes us unique children of God, created in His likeness.
To put those blessings into action is a form of stewardship.
Stewardship is not just about money. Stewardship is a way of life — living your life as a steward of God.
What you do at home, in your community, in nature, in your parish, and professionally are all acts of stewardship.
If God has blessed you with a gift that you can share with others, have you considered volunteering at your parish or somewhere you can put your gift into action?
Putting your faith into action is what God intended for you to do.
If you don’t know how your gifts can be best utilized at your parish, talk to your parish priest or parish staff, they can help identify what areas need you.
Don’t be shy, try something new, get out of your comfort zone, and expand your horizons.
You might find even more opportunities your gifts can assist with.
During this Easter season, I invite you to pray about what blessings God has given you each and every day; really think about it, and dig deep!
Remember, you are BLESSED!
