Pope John XXIII should be considered for sainthood

On May 6, 2010
John Murphy, Madison

To the editor:

Over the past year the Church has discussed starting the process for sainthood for Popes Pius XII and John Paul II.

Some may not remember Pope John XXIII, who followed Pius XII. However John XXIII, who convened the Second Vatican Council, was much loved by the people for opening the Church to new ideas and is the reason we no longer say the Mass in Latin. Furthermore, he allowed the laity greater participation in the Mass and Church decisions, all of which allowed the Church to expand its message of Jesus.

Pope John XXIII has my vote for sainthood before Pius XII or John Paul II.

John Murphy, Madison
